New York Fashion Week Backstage with Zoya Nail Polish!

I was backstage a lot during this season, while I was there I kept noticing they had a lot of manicurist, I was very intrigued. There were a ton of shades of polish and each show had a many different colors. All of nail polish that I saw was provided by Zoya. I was very excited because I have many zoya products already, but I wanted to learn more about them.  Their nail polish is all vegan, which is wonderful! It goes on really smooth and when you take it off it is very easy and you don’t have to keep scrubbing, Don't you hate when your polish doesn't want to come off? With this, it comes off very quickly! (I love that!)

The people from Zoya were very nice, they told me about their new satin polish line, which I have yet to try, but I was lucky enough to be given a few samples to take home with me! I haven’t used the satin yet, but I did play around with the colors I got from the Zang Toi show. They were very pretty brown tones perfect for this snowy weather we are having now. (sorry I didn’t take a photo of my nails).
Herve Leger & Malan Breton also had Zoya doing the nails for their shows. The colors were beautiful! Unfortunately I didn’t get to keep those, but I got a few other colors to try out! I’m so excited for it to get warmer so I can play with all of the colors!

Fashion Week - Fall / Winter 2015

Fashion week was a blast this season! It's the last time it will be held at Lincoln Center, which is a little bit sad, but none the less we had a great time!  I got a chance to work with my friend and fellow photographer David Berman from Social Network again. It's always a pleasure to work with him, we make a great team!

We also shot for Ms Castro Rides again as well as Made Now Magazine. You can see some of our work on their website as well as their instagram.

Here are a few photos from the week. (more on the way soon!)

First Holy Communion

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph some awesome (and adorable) kids at their first holy communion. It was at St. John Nepomucene in Manhattan. It is only a few blocks away from where I live so it was also very convenient. It was a beautiful day outside & the kids did  wonderfully! They really looked like they were having fun! They were all dressed up in their dresses and suits! It was a really fun day! Congratulations to all of them!

Republic of Fritz Hansen

I recently photographed this awesome event for Fritz Hansen at their showroom in Soho. I was able to capture a ton of great photos of their pieces as well as people enjoying themselves at the event. Jaime Hayon, one of the designers was so nice, I even had a chance to talk to him!

Headshots in NYC

This past week I did some headshots for someone with the same name as me. She does pronounce it a little differently, but not very often do I find someone with the same spelling. Our plan was to go to central park, but it was one of those extremely cold days; So we decided to find a warmer place to shoot. We found a public building near by and got some great shots! I love the photos and think they came out great!

Fashion Photography Workshop

I just wanted to post a link to the new class I am teaching.  I will take you behind the scenes of the world of fashion photography.  It's going to be a lot of fun!

Here's the description:

By Shana Schnur

Get behind the lens! When you open the pages of your favorite magazine, did you ever want to be a fashion photographer? Did you ever sit there as you turn the pages and wonder how these scenes get put together? Well... Now is your chance to learn about how these beautiful photos come to life! Fashion Photography is not just about pretty clothing or pretty models... In this workshop we will cover Fashion Photography, and as much of what it means to be a fashion photographer as time will allow. We will discuss topics including finding a model and, creating cohesive concepts for the shoot, creating a scene through lighting, posing, backgrounds, and general setup. You will additionally have a chance to photograph a professional model and learn about the whole experience from NYC Fashion Photographer Shana Schnur. Once we’re ready, we will have a fashion model pose for us so we can demonstrate the different types of lighting we can use, as well as give us the opportunity to practice setting up a real photo shoot and experimenting with props and themes. We will take you behind the scenes of the world of fashion, discussing the ins and outs of fashion and the business. Bring plenty of questions to ask!
